2007 Outstanding Faculty

Kent Berggren
Scott Hamilton presenting award to Kent Berggren Kent Berggren, EITC Automotive Instructor, is the 2007 recipient of the Richard and Lila Jean Jordan Outstanding Faculty Award. Kent joined the EITC staff three years ago directly from industry. He is National Master certified in Automotive Technology by (ASE) Automotive Service Excellence.

A co-worker says, "Kent is one of the most competent and experienced automotive technicans I have ever worked with. His people skills, problem-solving skills and impressive memory make him and outstanding teacher/technician. His extensive knowledge base covers years of training and experience in the industry, all of which he has brought into our College and generously shares with students and colleagues every day.

Kent is an outstanding asset to this school, our students and the community. He promises to only get better with time and it is my hope the College will never lose this valuable faculty member. "

2007 Outstanding Contributor

Hazel Rose

Hazel Rose The Foundation and College have the privilege of honoring a very special person. She and her family are very well known in the community and have a distinguished history of making our community a better place for everyone.

She is a great proponent of the value of volunteerism, philanthropy and dedication to the community. The list of her involvement ranges from Girl Scouts when her 3 daughters were young to the Colonial Theater, Museum of Idaho and of course one of her favorites Tautphaus Park Zoo.

Her family has been a long time supporter of the College. Several years ago when her husband was still living they established a very generous endowment through the Idaho Community Foundation to benefit Eastern Idaho Technical College by providing student scholarships and the ongoing, unmet needs of the College.

Just this year, a second scholarship endowment was established with the EITC Foundation to help EITC students succeed. There is a special place in their hearts for students and she loves to tell of her experiences in the community meeting EITC graduates. The family we all know is the Rogers and Hazel Rose Family. It is a great honor to present Hazel Rose with the 2007 Outstanding Contributor Award.

2007 Corporate Partner

Idaho National Laboratory

Jan Karinen presenting award to Dr. Roger Mayes On April 5th, Eastern Idaho Technical College announced that it had entered into a three-year, $1.35 million contract to provide environmental, safety and health training to Idaho National Laboratory employees. This training contract is one of the largest EITC has received in its 37 year history. Beginning July 1st, the College will begin providing training in radiological controls, respiratory protection, and a variety of other courses to assist the INL in providing for the safety of its employees and the environment.

We are very pleased to announce the Idaho National Laboratory as the 2007 Corporate Partner of the Year.

EITC would especially like to recognize and thank INL Deputy Lab Director Juan Alvarez for his support of this project and his efforts to promote partnerships between the national laboratory and educational institutions in the local community.
